Punanaamio® – Company history and information
Punanaamio is a Finnish company, founded in 1993. We are specialized in masquerades and parties, and we import all kinds of exciting products for having fun, such as wigs, fancy dress costumes, masks, joke & trick products, party supplies, make-up products etc.
It all started when Sari Luoma founded the Punanaamio in 1993. At that time, the business operation mainly meant the making make-ups and stylings in a small tarpaulin shelter and at customer's places throughout Finland. Because of the request of customers, little by little, we began also acquire and sell fun-related specialties, and the first Punanaamio shop was opened in the center of Turku in 1994. Our own import business started the following year.
In 1997 the private trader company changed to a limited company, and Reijo Luoma also became involved in the company. As a new form of business, which although not many believed at that time, was a webshop, which opened in 1999. Punanaamio was one of the first online stores in Finland. (This kind of operation was indeed very different from the present day, even the fastest connection was really slow, shopping carts did not exist, the orders came via e-mail, those were read randomly, as it was common in those days ;-)
We were working hard, even back then, around the clock, and in 2001, Punanaamio-Salure Ltd. was attained the AAA Highest Credit Worthiness. In 2004, we acquired a larger warehouse / office space in Turku Kärsämäki. The import and mail order business were placed there too.
In 2006, the Punanaamio shops were opened also in Tampere and Helsinki. For them, we founded Punanaamio-Relusa Ltd. In addition of these, we tried a franchise business with outside-owners for a while, but it was abandoned because of contradictions in the Punanaamio business policies.
In 2009, the Turku shop moved into a larger place and opened a mega store of 200 m2 on Eerikinkatu 2. So, after a short visit in the franchise world, the Turku shop returned to the main company and Punanaamio business policies, with a full range of products and service. The same year, also the Kärsämäki office / warehouse expansion was completed, and the 700 m2 space made our operation even more effective.
In summer 2011, Salure Ltd. and Relusa Ltd. merged into Punanaamio Ltd. Reasons for the merger were to get more efficiency and simplifying the business, and of course, at the same time all the staff also united under the same roof and now are able to better service! Both Salure and Relusa were attained the AAA Highest Credit Worthiness, and our business policy, of course, have still the same principles.
Since 2013, Punanaamio® is also registered as a trademark, which tells that the products sold under the name are of good quality and variety.
1.12.2018 Punanaamio became a daughter company of Salure Oy, founded by Sari and Reijo Luoma. To the new Managing Director (CEO) of Punanaamio Oy was appointed Kreetta Linnanmäki who has had a long career in Punanaamio, e.g. in recent years as sales director.
Sari and Reijo moved to their roles as owners of the parent company.
Punanaamio has 15 permanent full-time Punanaamio staffers. So, when you call us, a human being answers that call and handles the order from the start to the end.
Over the years, the business has expanded so that the various products can be found over 8000 in our own warehouse. Nowadays, we have 1500 m2 of storage space! 99 % of our products is our own import, and we are seeking constantly new cool products. The product range will be developed and revised, the prices are as low as possible without affecting the quality.
We are also thinking the environmental issues: for example, all incoming cardboard boxes and packing materials are recycled on webshop packagings. Also the Kärsämäki warehouse building is heated mainly with air-source heat pumps. Our partner companies world-wide also put effort into reducing unnecessary packaging materials in the best possible way.
We here in Punanaamio have always thought that the life should also be fun! But that does not mean that things are done with "second hand." Our main principle has always been to do business with honesty, legally, openly and avoiding unnecessary costs. So, we have always worked and still are working with passion and full heart around the clock. We want to serve as well as possible, and we would appreciate feedback from our customers, twigs and roses, so that we could develop our services even more. NOTE! Via post the Punanaamio products will be sent only from the webshop. We do not have any direct selling in Turku-Hiidenkatu office.
Direct selling only in the Punanaamio shops in Helsinki (Kalevankatu 32), Turku (Humalistonkatu 4), Tampere (Satakunnankatu 22) and Vantaa (Väinö Tannerin tie 1 A), but we don't send any parcels from these shops.
